Total Cost of Ownership: Rugged vs. Commercial
Keeping expenditures down is a top priority for every enterprise. The quest to keep expenditures low leads many to invest in commercial off-the-shelf mobile-computing equipment. Independently conducted studies have shown, however, that the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of these off-the-shelf devices is ultimately much higher than that of rugged devices. The purchase of rugged devices will cost an enterprise more initially, but their durability and reliability result in much better return on investment.
